17/05/2012

Apart from running his own company, Sillson Communications Limited, Peter Sills is an active member of the local community and gives up his time to support Swanage Railway in Dorset as Chairman of the Swanage Railway Company. In a ceremony that took place on Thursday 17 May 2012 the award-winning Victorian-style signal box built in Corfe Castle by dedicated volunteers – and set to control trains to the main line at Wareham – has been officially opened by the Minister of State for Transport, the Right Honourable Theresa Villiers MP.
Before cutting a ceremonial green ribbon at the foot of the wooden steps to the signal box, Rail Minister Theresa Villiers congratulated the Swanage Railway volunteers on a "fabulous job", adding that she was "so impressed with what you have managed to achieve here."
The Transport Minister is very supportive of heritage railways because they make a tremendous contribution to tourism and the economy of places like Swanage.
