ECLIPSE CASE STUDY

Eclipse Energy was the original developer of the Ormonde offshore windfarm which was initially planned as a hybrid gas and wind energy project. In 2008 Vattenfall bought Eclipse energy and the project was built as wind energy only.

The ormonde Project is the world’s first large scale deployment of the new generation REPower 5MW turbines. The windfarm comprises 30 turbines giving a total capacity of 150MW and is expected to generate more than 500 gigawatt hours of green electricity every year, which is the equivalent to the total annual electricity needs of more than 100,000 UK households.
